At the start of the 2025/2026 season, Liverpool had a brief run of scoring late goals that would secure all 3 points for The Reds in games where it seems like Liverpool where about to drop points. That brief run of late goals heavily contributed to the Premier League champions’ unbeaten run at the beginning of the season however since then the narrative has changed. Liverpool have now in recent times been known for the opposite, now the Champions are known for conceding late goals that have costed them precious points in their pursuit of Champions League football next season. The defending champions have broken their own club record of conceding late goals that was set all the way back during the 2010/2011 season where Liverpool conceded 7 late goals in a single Premier League season. Now The Reds have surpassed that record this season by conceding 8 late goals this season so far.
Here is a list of the 8 late goals Liverpool have conceded this season:
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool 1-2 (Conceded Winner)
Liverpool’s first defeat of the season and it was against a team that has become synonymous with their victories over the champions during the course of 2025. The game started off poorly for The Reds as Crystal Palace took the early lead in the 9th minute of the game courtesy of The Eagles’ number 7 Ismaïla Sarr. Federico Chiesa came off the bench for the Champions and scored the equaliser in the 87th minute of the game, seemingly rescuing a point for Liverpool however as we know that is not how the story ends as Eddie Nketiah also came off the bench as well to score the match winning goal in the 97th minute of stoppage time.
Chelsea vs Liverpool 2-1 (Conceded Winner)
Following their defeat at Selhurst Park, Liverpool went away once more but this time to Stamford Bridge to face the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup champions Chelsea. The game started out similarly to the Palace game as Liverpool conceded the opening goal in the 14th minute of the game thanks to an absolute screamer from an unlikely source in Moisés Caicedo. In the 63rd minute Liverpool got themselves back into the game with Alexsander Isak and Cody Gakpo combining to score the equaliser and once again the game looked set to end in a stalemate between the 2 respective champions however Chelsea’s young signing had other ideas. In the 95th minute of stoppage time Brazilian winger Estêvão scored the late winner and secured all the 3 points for Blues as well as shattered the hearts of the Liverpool fans.
The Leeds United vs Liverpool 3-3 (Conceded Equaliser)
Away at Elland Road, The Reds faced newly promoted Leeds United and this time around Liverpool were the ones who scored the opener in a game that saved all of its goals for the second half. In the 48th and 50th minutes of the game Hugo Ekitike scored Liverpool’s opening goals and gave them a 2-0 lead until Ibrahima Konaté gave a penalty in the 73rd minute which in Dominic Calvert-Lewin swiftly converted. Astonishingly 2 minutes later Anton Stach scored the equaliser and levelled the game only for Dominik Szoboszlai to calmly put away Liverpool’s 3rd goal of the game off the back of a swift Liverpool attack 5 minutes after. In the 96th minute of a 99-minute stoppage time, Ao Tanaka scored the match saving equaliser from a set piece corner that found him in open space by the back post.
Fulham vs Liverpool 2-2 (Conceded Equaliser)
Liverpool went the rest of 2025 without conceding a late goal until the turn of the new year where they faced Fulham away at Craven Cottage and the game began much like the others with Liverpool surprisingly conceding the opening goal in the early stages of the fixture. Harry Wilson scored in the 17th minute of the game with Liverpool only being able to respond in the second half with Florian Wirtz scoring a controversial goal that looked offside in the 57th minute. Cody Gakpo got on the end of a Jeremie Frimpong cross and seemingly scored the winner in the 94th minute of Stoppage Time. Liverpool looked like they were about to go back to their old ways of winning games through late goal winners however Fulham’s defensive midfielder Harrison Reed scored a Goal of the Season contender screamer from more than 20 yards out that found the top corner in the 97th minute of the game.
AFC Bournemouth vs Liverpool 3-2 (Conceded Winner)
2 league games after the rememberable match between Liverpool and Fulham, the Reds were set to face AFC Bournemouth in a game that turned into a 5-goal thriller at the Vitality Stadium. Evanilson kicked off proceedings by scoring the opener of the game in the 26th minute which was followed up by his teammate Álex Jiménez who scored Bournemouth’s second giving them a surprising 2-0 lead by Half Time. Liverpool began their comeback early in the second half with a corner set piece that led to a Virgil van Dijk headed goal in the 45th minute and then later proceeded to get the equaliser in the 80th minute through yet another set piece which saw Dominik Szoboszlai score from a free kick routine. The Cherries however found the winner a minute beyond stoppage time with Amine Adli scoring the winning goal off the back of a long throw into the penalty area in the 94th minute of game that only had 3 minutes of added time.
Liverpool vs Manchester City 1-2 (Conceded Winner)
One of the most controversial games of this Premier League season where rivals Liverpool and Manchester City faced off at Anfield in a game that will maybe be looked back on as an important one depending on the outcome of the title race this campaign. The game was stuck in a 0-0 deadlock until Dominik Szoboszlai brought the game to life with a Goal of the Season contender free kick from nearly 30 yards out. The lead however only lasted 10 minutes before Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland combined to find the equaliser in this very dramatic game. City continued to push for a winner in stoppage time and were awarded a penalty due to Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker fouling Matheus Nunes in the built up to Man City’s attack. In the 93rd minute Erling Haaland calmly tucked away the penalty and added to Liverpool’s growing list of late goals conceded.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool 2-1 (Conceded Winner)
One of the more shocking defeats of Liverpool’s season came at Molineux Stadium where the Premier League Champions faced the team that has been at the bottom of the league for quite some time now. Much like most of Liverpool’s games where they have conceded late, the games begin with Liverpool conceding first as Wolverhampton Wanderers scored in 78th minute of the game courtesy of a Rodrigo Gomes goal. 5 minutes later however Mohamed Salah found the equaliser and The Reds were looking likely to find a second goal but luck was not on their side as they failed to take advantage of the numerous chances they had. Lady luck went further away from their side as the Champions playing out from the back backfired and led to Brazilian midfielder André scoring the winner in the 94th minute of stoppage time with a deflected effort. This late goal concession made Liverpool equal the club’s record for the most goals conceded in a single Premier League season as mentioned previously.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur (Conceded Equaliser)
The unwanted record-breaking game, Liverpool hosted winless Tottenham Hotspur in a game that on paper seemed cut and dry for The Reds to collect all 3 points from a Spurs team riddled with injuries as well as a team that has yet to win a game in 2026. Tottenham did look hungry for a win in this game however as they had Liverpool cornered in the opening minutes until an almost customary Dominik Szoboszlai free kick put Liverpool ahead in the 18th minute of the game. For many you would think that goal would have opened the floodgates for The Reds to go on to score more goals but Spurs did not make it easy and were still fighting to get a goal back in this game which they did. After a long ball forward that found Randal Kolo Muani, he setup the chance for Richarlison to score the 90th minute equaliser. After the final whistle blew not only did Liverpool drop points in their pursuit of Champions League football, they also broke the record their own club record of the most late goals conceded in a single Premier League season.
