The Premier League Summer Series is a pre-season friendly tournament hosted in the United States and it was first announced in April 2023 and is the second Premier League-affiliated competition held outside England, after the Asia Trophy. The inaugural Premier League Summer Series consisted 6 Premier Leagues team and which Chelsea were the inaugural winners in a tournament that consisted of teams such as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton Hove & Albion, Fulham and Brentford. This year however the Premier League Summer Series only consisted of 4 teams, namely Everton, AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United and Manchester United.

The 2025 Premier League Summer Series has officially reached its conclusion with Manchester United being crowned the champions heading into the new 2025/26 season. This tournament is the Pre-Season that some Man Utd fans have felt Ruben Amorim was owed in order to implement his system and style of play as well as it was an opportunity to showcase Man Utd’s new signings Diego Leon, Mattheus Cunha and Byran Mbeumo. Man Utd looked like a much more improved team during this tournament with results that very much reflexed that by going undefeated and winning the Pre-Season tournament. In those 3 fixtures Man Utd showed glimpses of some fluidity in their team play and attacks, they showed a lot of high line pressing and probably most importantly Man Utd show more clinical finishing in front of goal against Premier League opposition. Some of their major problems from last season was consistency and overall performances against Premier League opponents and even though it is only Pre-Season, Man Utd seem to have addressed some of those issues especially in their games against West Ham United where United won 2-1 and against AFC Bournemouth where United won 4-1.

The real issues started to show themselves during the last game of the tour against Everton where United drew the game 2-2 and reminded everyone at United about the existing problems at the club. During this specific game, Man Utd’s midfielders looked a bit shaky and for most of the game the chemistry was not clicking. Along with that Man Utd conceded a quite interesting own goal which costed them the win and to add on to that there was a moment of miscommunication and frustration between Patrick Dorgu and Rasmus Højlund when the Danish wingback opted to shoot instead of crossing to the ball to his Danish compatriot during a Man Utd attack. These issues reminded every Man Utd fan that even though there is plenty of positives to take away from the Pre-Season, there is also lots of work ahead for Ruben Amorim and still a lot business in the transfer market that INEOS must address.

Man Utd are still looking to be busy in the transfer market and are reportedly looking to sign a new striker with Benjamin Šeško being made the top priority, a new goalkeeper depending on the goalkeeping situation Man Utd could be looking to sign an experienced goalkeeper Emi Martinez or a young long-term goalkeeper like Senne Lammens and Man Utd could still maybe be in the market for a new midfielder depending on if the clubs can generate funds from sales.
