The 26-year-old Atalanta midfielder has been the subject of interest for quite some time due to the player’s consistency, versatility and suitability for high-intensity systems. Last summer the Brazilian midfielder did reportedly have several clubs monitoring him however Atalanta’s €70m asking price did ward away many potential offers which saw Éderson continue as an Atalanta BC player going into the 2025/26 season. Interestingly enough though Éderson’s agent, André Cury, has come out in an interview making a huge announcement which could shape the future of the Brazilian’s future going into 2026.

What was the announcement?

André Cury in a recent interview has stated that the price for his client, Éderson has dropped going into 2026 has the player’s contract is set to expire in June 2027. He further stated that the 26-year-old midfielder will be available for a fee between €30m-€40m which is seen as a big opportunity for a lot of clubs. Judging from this statement it is safe to assume that Éderson’s preference would be to move on from Atalanta in 2026 as well as the likelihood of the Brazilian extending his contract with the Atalanta BC is seemingly low. There are currently no ongoing negotiations between the club and the player on a potential new contract so once again all signs seem to point to an Éderson exit either in January or the Summer transfer window.

Which clubs would be interested?

Several clubs have been interested in Éderson over the past year or so with the most notable names being clubs like Manchester United. Manchester United are currently in the market for younger midfielders who have the stamina and intensity to play in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, a player like Éderson could offer to take some of the pressure off Casemiro who is 33 going onto 34 next year or Éderson could even be a midfield partner to Casemiro which could allow Captain Bruno Fernandes to push further up the filed and play in his more natural Number 10 position. FC Barcelona are a club that has also kept notable tabs on the Brazilian midfielder and have a good working relationship with agent André Cury. The lowered asking might play a huge factor is the Spanish Giants potentially looking into finally making a move for Éderson given their financial constraints, especially considering Barcelona’s current injury crisis in their midfield to key players such as Pedri, De Jong and Gavi. Clubs from Saudi Arabia such as Al Hilal were very interested in Éderson in the summer and was considered high on their priority list. Money was never an issue for the Saudi club, it was Atalanta BC themselves who did not want to sell Éderson hence the €70m price tag to ward off potential offers. With asking price for Éderson seemingly lowered, Al Hilal may be interested once more since the player is seemingly pushing for a move away in 2026.

Likely destinations?

Saudi Arabia, Spain, Italy and England all seem to have clubs interested in the Brazilian going into 2026. It may be highly likely that Éderson opts to remain in Europe’s top flight considering the 2026 FIFA World Cup is right around the corner which could be one of the motivating factors as to why the 26-year-old wants a move out of Atalanta BC. During Brazil’s World Cup qualification pursuit Éderson did not seem to be considered a top priority player in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad; shown by the Éderson’s lack of starts, minutes and overall selection for the national team. A move to a top club combined with good performances could be the catalyst to jump start Éderson’s claim for the national team and if the move were to happen in January, that would be the perfect opportunity to grab the attention of Carlo Ancelotti.
