Who would have thought by Matchweek 6 that Crystal Palace would be the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and who also would have thought that they would maintain their unbeaten streak by ending Liverpool’s unbeaten run. It is quite incredible what Olivier Glasner has achieved with his Crystal Palace team since his arrival and the Austrian manager currently has Crystal Palace sitting 3rd on the Premier League table with 3 wins and 3 draws in their opening 6 games. What a 2025 it has been for The Eagles, let us have a look at the success Olivier Glasner and Crystal Palace have achieved this calendar year so far.

First Major Trophy Win in The Club’s History

One of the biggest shockers this year was the fact the Crystal Palace managed to win their first major trophy in the club’s 164 years of existence and it was no cake walk either. Olivier Glasner and his team managed to do the unthinkable and defeated Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team who had previously defeated Crystal Palace in a whopping 5-2 victory in April of this year. The Eagles defeated The Cityzens in a 1-0 victory thanks to a brilliant goal by former Palace player Eberechi Eze and what made the win even more memorable was the statement made by Olivier Glasner back in April when his team were beaten by city. “I said to Pep afterwards, if we meet again, you can’t play in this system because we will solve it.” A monumental moment for Crystal Palace and it was further capped off with Crytal Palace’s qualification into the UEFA Europa League, it was just unfortunate that some off the pitch issues caused Palace to be demoted to the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Community Shield Trophy Win

Just when Crystal Palace fans thought things could not get any better for them, their clubs go and secures their 2nd ever trophy in the Community Shield by unbelievably defeating the 2025 Premier League champions Liverpool. Absolutely nobody would believe that Crystal Palace would defeat 2 of the Premier League’s Big 6 in back-to-back finals. Olivier Glasner’s team were behind by the end of the first half losing 2-1 to The Reds however the Eagles manged to equalised and send the game into a Penalty Shootout where Dean Henderson’s shot stopping heroics were on full display. Saving 2 penalties which were instrumental in Palace winning the Community Shield and handing Palace their 2nd ever trophy in the same calendar year.

Defeating The Champions Once Again

As mentioned previously, Crystal Palace have kicked off the 2025/26 season being the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League in their opening 6 games of the season. The Eagles kicked off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a 0-0 draw to UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup champions Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge. Followed by another draw to the Premier League team that replaced Palace in the UEFA Europa League this season, Nottingham Forest at home at Selhurst Park. After only earning 2 points in their opening 2 games, Palace finally got their first win of the season by defeating Aston Villa in a 3-0 victory away at Villa Park. Palace then returned to Selhurst Park to earn another point in another draw against newly promoted Sunderland which things were starting to look a bit concerning for the Eagles as they could not seem to win games on home soil. Olivier Galsner’s team then went away to the London Stadium where they managed their 2nd win of the season by defeating West Ham United, who only had 1 win in their last 4 matches. And finally, Palace end their home drawing streak by defeating the Champions Liverpool once again and they also once again came from behind to win against The Reds. This time they also took a page out the Liverpool playbook this season as The Eagles scored the winner in stoppage time and handed Liverpool their 2nd only defeat this entire 2025/26 campaign.
