As of December 4th2025, it is Matchweek 14 and Wolverhampton Wanderers have yet to win a single Premier League game. Wolves are currently rock bottom of the Premier League with 2 points and they are the only team in the league who have not reached double figure points for the season yet. To breakdown Wolves’ horrid Premier League season:

·        14 Games Played

·        0 Wins

·        2 Draws

·        12 Defeats

·        7 Goals Scored

·        29 Goals Conceded

·        -22 Goal Difference

Wolves have officially had theworst start to Premier League season (Without point deductions) by narrowly overtaking Sheffield United back during their 2020/21 season where The Blades had asimilarly horrible start to that particular Premier League campaign:

·        14 Games Played

·        0 Wins

·        2 Draws

·        12 Defeats

·        8 Goals Scored

·        24 Goals Conceded

·        -16 Goal Difference

As Wolves fans this season seems like one to forget thus far unless something changes because right now Wolves are on track to suffer the same fate that Sheffield United suffered during the2020/21 which was relegation at the bottom of the Premier League table. The question that needs to ask though is what could possibly be the reason for Wolves’ incredible shocking start to the season.

Too many key players sold?

·        Mattheus Cunha → Manchester United

·        Rayan Ait Nouri → Manchester City

·        Nélson Semedo → Free Agent

·        Craig Dawson → Free Agent

·        Pablo Sarabia → Al-Arabi

·        Goncalo Guedes → Real Sociedad

·        Fabio Silva → Borussia Dortmund

Wolves in the Summer were busy in terms of letting a lot of players go, as listed above quite a lot of notable names were let go and some key players were sold for big money to top clubs. The issue comes with the replacements not being able to fill the void left by their predecessors. Wolves did manage to make Jørgen Strand Larsen’s loan move during the 2024/25 season a permanent one however the Norwegian has not managed to reach the same heights as he did last season as well having to deal with injury issues this season. Wolves are known for selling their best players and going on to sign quality replacements that will become big sales in future however this season it seems as though Wolves have gotten the recruitment wrong this time around.

Former manager given too much time?

Former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira was announced as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ new manager in December 2024 and saw Wolves finish their 2024/25 campaign with a 16th place finish,17 points above the relegation zone. The Portuguese head coach did well save Wolves from relegation however Wolves started an unwanted winless streak that dates all the way back to May 2025. Since April 26 2025, Wolves had not won a single game under Vitor Pereira which also included the Pre-season friendlies. After12 games in the Premier League and including pre-season without a win, Vitor Pereira was offered and signed a new 3-year deal in September which was shocking many. The only wins Wolves had from May to September was 1 EFL Cup knockout win over West Ham United before the new contract was signed. Questions might have to be asked of the Wolves management on their decision to extend manager’s tenure after having no wins in the Premier League since April only to then sack the manager in November.

Any good positives?

The only surface level positives were the fact that were unbeaten in the EFL Cup until they were knocked out by Chelsea. With Wolves still yet to win a Premier Lague game this season as well as still bottom of the Premier League with 2 points, the only positives that can be seen could be the fact the January transfer window is right around the corner so new manager Rob Edwards can be given some new players to freshen up the team and maybe help rescue their season. Maybe just maybe with the right recruitment, Wolves may be able to do the unthinkable and make the greatest of great escapes from relegation this season.
